Whether you are shopping for a friend, for a special Christmas present or a pay day treat, sometimes a bit of fan art can’t go wrong. I love these as they are a step away from the cliched Banksy-esqe fan art, and something special from the talented Alexander Jackson.
Jackson is an Edinburgh based commercial illustrator, who also sells prints of his work through his site, and Redbubble. We love this Bowie print from his “Let’s Dance” era, prices start at £20 for 10×8″ print.
Another print of the classic comedy ‘Father Ted’, perfect present for any Father Ted fan. I think Jackson absolutely nailed Dougal’s expression in this one. These prints are limited edition 12×10″ Father Ted print from a run of 250.
I love this Prince print, simple, and colourful for the ‘Purple Rain’ artist.
Other print prices depending on size but range from roughly £20 – £50.
Jackson studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, after studying fine art and traditional painting. He also finds time to be front the experimental rock band Heavy Weather or Invaders from Space, and to write and paint. From his website:
Influenced by pop-culture, film, music, animation and a very broad range of visual art, his work often deals with responding to mainstream media, while at the same time showing a keen interest in character.
Jackson has produced illustrations for comics, children’s books, short stories, portraits and murals, as well as commissions for high end clients, magazines and agencies such as Puma and NHS Scotland.
