An amazing event is coming up in October for anyone in the North West (and those willing to travel), Manchester Print Fair. Manchester Print Fair is a Biannual event, now in it’s 7th year, and is held in historical and culturally significant buildings across the city. The fair features over 50 independent designers and artists and welcomed over 3000 visitors to the last event. This year’s Autumn Fair is being held on Sat 20th – Sun 21st October, at the gorgeous Whitworth Gallery, a beautiful building that is part of the University of Manchester and just a stone’s throw from the city centre.
For a taster of what to expect, here are some glimpses of what was on at their Spring event at the equally iconic Manchester Cathedral. April’s sellers are listed here if you want to check out the type of work available.
Entries for sellers have now closed, the final list of artists to feature will be released nearer to the time. The print fair also features some great workshops, curated with G.F Smith paper with Fred Aldous, if you’ve never visited Fred Aldous in Manchester please visit on your next trip to Manchester. It’s a real treat for artists, crafters and general stationary lovers. Previous workshops have included screen printing, letterpress, origami and 3 minute portraits, looks like a great day out for those little creatives too.
The event is completely FREE, including the workshops and is a fabulous opportunity to explore the Whitworth, new artists, new skills and snap up a new print for the home.
The Whitworth is easily accessible by public transport from the city centre:
If you can’t wait until October and you are near Preston on Sat 15th September then they are also running a sister fair at Cannon Street in Preston. This is a one day event, featuring some amazingly talented artists, and includes music, coffee and food. Find out more here!
